Gyptian "Holds" The Bay Area----Oakland, California

Date: Tuesday, July 27th
Venue: The New Parish

City: Oakland, CA
Artist: Gyptian

The New Parish is one of Oakland's sexiest venues, with an intimate stage setting. In addition to it's ambiance, it has one of the wickedest sound systems the Bay Area nightlife has to offer.

Opening Act:
Dubtonic took us on an eargasmic journey with the Tantrum Rhythm. They also performed Sunshine Girl and other great tunes that kept all of us pleasantly entertained.

Dj Mr. E of Papalote Hi-Fi kept us rocking during the set change. I even saw some of Gyptian’s bandmates grooving just before they got on stage.

Showtime:
Let me be honest and say this, I was expecting the typical young inexperienced artist who stays glued to one part of the stage during his entire set; But Gyptian proved me wrong. I wasn’t surprised to see a packed house since his hit "Hold Yuh", remix ft. Nicki Minaj is in regular rotation on local radio. There were a lot of new and familiar faces in attendance, and to my surprise Reggae Icon Marcia Griffiths graced us with her presence while grooving to Gyptian's entire set. Gyptian warmed his audience up nicely with songs like: "Mama don't cry", "My Fada seh", and "I can feel your pain". He worked the women into a frenzy with his purring. Yes, you read correctly.... Gyptian likes to purrr to the ladies. He purrrreedd, and purrrreeddd, the entire night. It did nothing for me (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it lol)! However, he left an impression on so many people as my Twitter timeline was flooded with tweets about the show, especially the purring. ‘Gyppie’ is a great singer and excellent performer. He hits EVERY note, it was like listening to one of his albums. He performed “Mi nah let go” which I initially thought was an alright song. His live performance of the song has changed my mind. I really like it now. Gyppie closed his set with his hit single “Hold yuh”. My Gosh!!! It sent all the women in a frenzy. Girls gone wild! Gyppie is romantic, sexy, and a comedian all wrapped up in one. I know my description sounds a little odd, but you had to be there to understand. I feel sorry for you if you missed the show.

Gyptian can officially say he shelled down the Oakland - San Francisco Bay Area. I look forward to seeing him perform again.

I’ve posted two videos below so you can see for yourself. I’m not a professional videographer I had to avoid security as I filmed the videos on my little Canon camera. I hope you all enjoy.
